InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay Review: Is It Worth 43,000 IHG Points?

What was meant to be a quick flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore turned into a bit of a wait, as we spent more than 30 minutes circling Singapore due to air traffic.
Once I landed, however, things moved much faster. I had already completed my arrival information using the app, and I was through the airport in about 15 minutes. From there, it was an easy 25-minute Grab ride to the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay.
Booking the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay
I booked my stay using 43,000 IHG One Rewards points per night.
As an InterContinental Ambassador member, I also received a $25 beverage credit, and I used my 50-night Annual Lounge Membership to enjoy access to Club InterContinental during my stay.
Overall, I thought 43,000 points per night was a reasonable redemption for an InterContinental property in Singapore, particularly when you factor in the location and the additional benefits I received.

One of the first things you'll notice when arriving at the hotel is that the ground-floor entrance is surprisingly small.
Rather than finding the main reception area immediately inside, you take the elevator up one floor to reach the hotel's main lobby and check-in desks.

When you step out of the elevator on the first floor, you'll immediately see signs for the Quayside Lounge.
The lobby itself is more than just a check-in area. It's a comfortable and stylish space where you can sit, relax and enjoy a drink. I really liked the atmosphere here, and it gives the hotel a much more intimate feel than some of Singapore's larger luxury hotels.
InterContinental Robertson Quay Room
My first impression when I entered the room was that it seemed a little narrow. However, after spending some time in it and taking in the overall design, I actually found the layout worked very well.
The open-concept bathroom helps make the room feel larger, with plenty of glass and mirrors creating a brighter and more spacious feeling.
My favourite feature of the room was the fantastic leather chair and footstool positioned beside the floor-to-ceiling window.
It became the perfect spot to sit back with a coffee or a good book while enjoying the view. It was one of those small touches that made the room feel like somewhere you could actually relax rather than simply a place to sleep.
The room has an open-concept design, but sliding room dividers can be closed to separate the bathroom from the bedroom whenever you want a little more privacy.

The room included a Nespresso coffee machine and kettle, along with a good selection of coffee and tea.
For someone like me who enjoys sitting by the window with a morning coffee, the Nespresso machine definitely got some use.
InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay Bathroom
One feature I particularly liked was the hotel's approach to drinking water.
Instead of providing disposable bottles of water, the room has a filtered drinking-water tap. I thought this was a great idea. It's convenient for guests while also helping reduce the number of plastic bottles used by the hotel.
The bathroom continues the room's modern, open design and includes a walk-in shower and InterContinental toiletries.
Club InterContinental Robertson Quay
Club InterContinental is located on the first floor, the same level as the check-in counters and Quayside Lounge.
I was able to access the lounge using my IHG One Rewards 50-night Annual Lounge Membership, which added considerable value to my stay.
InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay Pool
The hotel's swimming pool is located just off the main lobby.
It's primarily designed as a lap pool and is approximately 25 metres long. During my stay, I never saw it become particularly crowded, which was a good thing because there aren't a large number of lounge chairs around the pool.
If you're looking for a huge resort-style pool, this probably isn't it. But if you want to swim some laps or cool off after exploring Singapore, it does the job nicely.
Breakfast at Publico
Breakfast is served at Publico, the hotel's Italian restaurant located on the ground floor.
Getting there is slightly unusual. You exit the hotel and walk a short distance past UMMI, a Lebanese restaurant, before reaching Publico.
Breakfast includes a buffet with a good selection of hot and cold dishes, along with a juice bar.
I found Publico to be a pleasant place to start the day, and its ground-floor location gives it a different atmosphere from the quieter hotel spaces upstairs.
Location
For me, one of the biggest advantages of the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is its location.
The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from the Singapore River, where you'll find excellent walking, running and cycling paths. You can follow the river toward Marina Bay and continue on toward Gardens by the Bay, making it a great way to explore Singapore on foot.

In the opposite direction, Orchard Road is about 2 kilometres away, or roughly a six-minute drive depending on traffic.
During my stay, I needed to visit the Apple Store on Orchard Road, so rather than walking, I simply ordered a Grab and was there within minutes.
I really enjoyed having the choice of being able to walk along the river when I wanted to explore while still being a short ride from one of Singapore's main shopping districts.
Final Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, and it is a hotel I would happily return to on my next visit to Singapore.
In fact, next time I would like to stay for several nights so I could spend more time enjoying the hotel itself rather than treating it simply as a base for exploring the city.
The rooms are modern and cleverly designed, the hotel has a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, and the location is excellent. You're close enough to Orchard Road for shopping while also having the Singapore River just steps away for a relaxing walk toward Marina Bay.
What impressed me most was how comfortable the hotel felt. It doesn't have the huge lobby or resort-like atmosphere of some luxury hotels, but that's part of its appeal. The smaller scale gives it a more relaxed feeling that suited the Robertson Quay neighbourhood perfectly.
Would I stay at the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay again? Absolutely. For anyone looking for a luxury hotel in Singapore with a quieter riverside location while still having easy access to the city's major attractions, I think it's an excellent choice.
