Smooth Departure from Bangkok
My journey from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur began at Suvarnabhumi Airport, where Thai Airways’ signature hospitality was evident from the moment I arrived at the check-in counter. The process was seamless, and I was soon on my way through fast-track and on my way to the lounge to relax before boarding.
After you clear immigration and head down the escalator, you've got two Thai Airways business class lounges to choose from—one on the right and one on the left. This time, I decided to check out the one on the right, which is the newer option.

The lounge is super bright and has a bunch of comfy seats with tables in between most of them, plus lots of power outlets.

Flight number 3 on my Asia trip was on this Thai Airways B787-9, with the registration HS-TWB. It's an 8-year-old plane, and I snagged a business class seat using 13,500 Avianca Life Miles and $49.10.

Boarding the Dreamliner
Boarding started on time at 8:30 and was smooth through the second door. Seat 16K is a window seat on the right side of the aircraft
Business class on the Thai Airways B787-9 is a 1-2-1 reverse-herringbone configuration featuring the Safran Cirruss II seats with all seats having direct aisle access.

Business Class Seat Comfort
The seat was quite spacious, but those metal bumps on each side were really annoying and made it uncomfortable. On the plus side, there was plenty of legroom, and the seat could turn into a flat bed. Since it was only a 90-minute flight, I didn't bother trying out the bed.

In-Flight Dining
Shortly after takeoff, the crew served a delicious meal. The presentation was elegant, and the flavors were distinctly Thai—fresh, vibrant, and satisfying. The attentive service made the dining experience feel special, even on a relatively brief journey.

Arrival in Kuala Lumpur
We touched down in Kuala Lumpur 7 minutes ahead of schedule, despite taking off 15 minutes late, and we felt pretty refreshed. Thai Airways gave us a smooth and enjoyable business class ride. The seat wasn't the most comfortable, but it was okay for the 90-minute flight. On a longer trip, though, it might get pretty annoying.
